ITIL Foundation certification

ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service ManagementJust this week I sat and passed the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management exam. What the hell does that mean?

ITIL is short for ‘Information Technology Infrastructure Library’ which is a set of best practice guidelines for an IT department to deliver better service to their organisation.

Some IT departments are known for not being very customer friendly or responsive when they are called upon and ITIL improves all this when adopted and implemented.

Most of the really big organisations that exist have pretty much adopted this approach to IT. Microsoft is one huge example.

I guess it was a bit geeky of me to find it interesting :) It’s basically business customer service principles where your customers are the internal organisation rather than external.

The course lasted for three days with an exam held on the final day which I’m stoked to say I confidently passed. Now I just need my special piece of paper and pin badge to arrive in the mail.
