Insightful thought for 12 Nov

“You’re either growing or dying.”

With everything that you do, no matter whether it is your band, a business, relationship, job, etc, if you’re not constantly learning new ways to improve or grow then you’re dying away.

It’s an illusion to think otherwise.

Learning does not end when you leave school, especially if you have aspirations of achieving better things in life.

Watch The Opus trailer

The Opus is not another movie about the law of attraction but rather a thought provoking look into how a person can and should look into achieving their true potential.

Here’s the video trailer of The Opus which I watched and quite enjoyed a few days ago.

Why You Should Watch The Opus…

I’ve just finished watching The Opus and I was pleasantly surprised with it.

I was expecting it to be an extension to The Secret about the law of attraction as it featured quite a few similar speakers like Dr. Joe Vitale, Jack Canfield, Dr. John Demartini, Morris Goodman, Marci Shimoff and Bob Doyle.

However, even though they do refer to the law of attraction in this movie, that’s not what The Opus is mainly about.

It’s about making people think about what their purpose is in life, finding a vision and most importantly, taking action steps to get started towards your ultimate vision.

It’s about allowing yourself to dream and strive for things you feel passionate about rather than limiting yourself.

The law of attraction kicks in as part of the action taking process towards your goals they explain. Events, scenarios and people will be attracted to you along the way but you must take action towards a goal to start with.

Success is always accompanied by challenge and it’s during these times that your vision, passion and commitment of utmost importance.

In summary, The Opus is a movie about learning to maximise a person’s potential through vison, planning and action steps which is the important aspect that The Secret missed out when it comes to attracting the future you wish to have for yourself.

How To Improve The Law Of Attraction

If you weren’t aware already, there are two parts to our mind, the conscious and the subconscious. Our conscious mind is what we’re very familiar with, we make decisions with it every minute of every day.

The issue is that it’s only a fraction of our total mind, it’s the subconscious that’s the real powerhouse!

The Power of the Subconscious Mind
To prove it, think how easily you perform tasks like walking, writing, driving, riding a bike or playing a musical instrument once you learn or train yourself how to do them.

You aren’t consciously thinking of how to perform every little movement your body makes in order to do the action like walking are you? No, you’re not.

In fact, you aren’t even consciously thinking about breathing or pumping the blood around your body. Are you starting to get it?

Train the Subconscious Mind
You can improve the law of attraction by ‘training’ your subconscious mind as it’s the thoughts and habits it holds that it gets to work on, not what you consciously think and that’s catch.

The thoughts you hold consciously with persistence will, in due time, crossover into your subconscious, and then that’s where things start to happen!

Desiring to be slim while holding subconscious thoughts and habits of an overweight person won’t work. Neither will desiring to be wealthy when you have subconscious thoughts and habits of a poor person.

And of course, desiring for anything yet holding the subconscious thoughts and habits of a person who believes its attainment will be hard to get certainly won’t work.

Training Tools
Visualization, affirmations, vision boards, writing down goals, etc are all just tools for you to communicate to your subconscious what you ultimately want it to work on attracting.

If you’re not getting the results you had hoped for, explore what your habits are and they’ll reveal what your subconscious is really working on.

Dr John Demartini and The Gratitude Effect

On Tuesday night I had the chance to hear Dr Demartini speak for the second time, in support of his latest book titled ‘The Gratitude Effect’.

Of the many things he talked about, one of the key things was the idea of understanding the duality and balance that occurs in everything.

Everything is balanced
True gratitude comes from this understanding where you can appreciate negative as well as positive events, as it’s only our perspective that makes it seem as such.

There is good inside of every bad event and bad inside of every good. It’s always balanced though you may not initially be able to see it.

To not see both sides is when you allow yourself to feel infatuation or resentment, which are both imbalanced perspectives.

Reflections of people
Another interesting point is how you perceive other people, as what you see in others is a reflection of yourself.

If you know someone who is caring and generous, to the same level you have that trait somewhere.

Likewise if you know someone who is selfish and cruel, you also have that trait to the same degree somewhere.

Challenge and support
Challenge helps you grow in nature, support shields you from growth.

If you always surround yourself with things that support you and your beliefs, you can never reach your full potential. Challenge is required to expand you, to make you think and to grow you as a person.

Yin and yang
There can be no happiness without sadness.

Kindness and cruelty. Giving and taking. Life and death. Growth and decay. Confidence and fear. Light and dark. Charity and selfishness. Relaxation and tension. Joy and anger. Fulfilment and emptiness. Co-operation and competition.

Everything is always balanced and true gratitude is when you can be thankful for all the things that support and challenge you, when you can find the benefit in the drawback and vice versa.
