Why You Should Register Your Name As A Domain

Because you don’t want your name associated with porn sites! Or maybe you do?

One of the things I learnt at the World Internet Summit I attended last month was that they recommended you register your name as a domain.

It’s becoming increasingly more common that when people want to search for information on you, they’ll google your name.

Porn sites are crafty buggers where they might purchase ‘JoeBloggs.com’ and point it to one of their sites.

When someone searches on “Joe Bloggs”, they’ll find a porn site associated to it which is terrible if it’s a potential employer searching you out! Great if you’re in the adult industry already.

The only thing you can do to stop this is to buy the domain and to pay some exorbitant amount for it.

If you’re doing something where you interact with the public, better go register your name as a domain asap.

Even if you’re not, what’s a couple of bucks to claim your own domain? Just point it to your myspace or facebook page.
